Family!
So many good letters this week! I can´t believe how great everything´s going for all of you. This is a pretty big week for us. First of all, dad is RETIRING! Congratulations! Por fin! Whoo! Hoorah! Yes! I can´t believe it´s here! You did it! I knew you could do it! Dad, I´m very happy for you and I wish I could help celebrate. You´ve done it! You´re a retiree. How does it feel? And mom. Happy Birthday on Thursday. You are the most incredible person I know. I love you more than I can put into words. You´re my example and my hope. It´s because of you and dad that I have this firing desire to share what I know is true because I´ve seen how it blesses lives. I´ve seen the change it makes. Thank you for your direction, for your passion, and for your love. You deserve the world and I hope dad and Cassie make you feel very special because you are everything to our family. I love you mom. Aleksi, I´m so happy you had a safe trip to San Fran. Loved all the photos! Does one of the photos that I´ve attached remind you of anything...does the number 35 ring a bell...hahaha. Mitchell, I´m so sorry about the emails - I´ve gotten two replies to your email saying that it didn´t send. I always check to make sure I send it to all of you. I hope when mom resent it to you that it worked. I know it´s frustrating to not hear from me, but know that it was out of my control. I´m sorry things are rough. I miss you, I wish you could be in my mission. But remember Dumbledore, "We must not try to sink beneath our anguish, Harry, but battle on." That´s what I tell myself whenever I feel down. And I read the Book of Mormon. My love for that book has never been stronger. I read it and I can feel peace and comfort. I know it´s true and written for our benefit and instruction. Cassie, baby girl. Glad you had a spring break full of the sun and beach! and the river! Good memories there. haha. Remember that one time...that I told you about on memorial day....and emily...so awkward! hahah. Miss you sister.
Mom - I got that package! That was incredible! Everyone loves you. and all the treats. They opened it because apparently you can´t send beef jerky or seeds into Chile. But they didn´t take anything out. That thing was PACKED. All the Elders were so jealous because they´ve been trying to get people to send them beef jerky. I shared. Elder Broadhead especially loved it. So I was concerned about buying food my first few weeks because I was new here and didn´t know the currency or how much stuff cost or what to buy. And Elder Broadhead is exactly like Elder Stein. Remember him? with Elder York. Yeah, so no sweets. I know if I´m buying something that´s "unhealthy." Gotta love your companions. I´ve gotten used to it though. I buy whatever I want now that I´ve gotten into the groove of things.
Dad - My mamita told me the Pastel de Choclo recipe right when I asked her, but then I asked her to write it down and she said that´d take her a while...so I´m working on it.
Yes! Send me an Absentee ballet! Why hasn´t anyone told me about Mitt Romney! He´s the Republican Candidate?! Is it true? that´s what all the Chileans are saying.
I´m super excited for General Conference! I´ve never been this excited. I can´t wait.
Yesterday, Roberto and Yoanna and their son Tomas came to church! They said they were only going to stay for the first hour, but they ended up staying for the whole time. You guys, it was amazing. Going to church is vital for conversion. The members were so welcoming and friendly. We´re going to challenge Roberto for the 14th of April to be baptized. We have to change the date because, he didn´t come to church last week. But he came! I couldn´t be happier.
Why did Cassie say 432 days until Hawaii? Is that real?! haha.
It takes 15 days for a letter to get from me to you. I´ve responded to every letter that I´ve recieved. So if you´re waiting, just be patient - it´s coming.
The Hunger Games comes out this week! Ahhh! It´s going to be amazing. And JK Rowling is writing a new book?! What?! I can´t breathe! Details.
Also, this week I tried Ecco for the first time. It´s the LDS version of Coffee. and it´s DELICIOUS. I now know why Alexa and Kate drink coffee 24/7 - it´s amazing! haha, well Ecco is amazing! Apparently it´s only sold here in South America. Look it up. Nestle makes it. It´s so good.
Well, I´m in week 9 of training. Week 9 of 12. I´m so grateful for ALL the support and love that you guys have sent my way. Thank you for your prayers. I feel happiest when I´m out working, when I´m out diligently trying to find people to teach and when I am teaching. I wish I was a good teacher like Mitchell, but I´m trying. I know this is the restored church on the earth today, how incredible it is to be led by a living prophet.
Believe in Christ. Believe that he is. Believe that he created all things both in heaven and in the earth.
He is our Savior and our Redeemer. Through him, we can return back and live with our God and with our families forever.
I love you family. I love this gospel. I love the Book of Mormon. I love your emails. and I love our Savior.
Happy Birthday Mom. Happy Retirement Dad.
Creo en Cristo.
All my love,
Elder Poirier.
