When the sun's out and the ocean's calling your name:
Answer.
Answer.
The worst thing is when you tell someone how great a certain activity is,
like snorkeling for example,
and then you invite them out - and on whatever particular day, it doesn't live up to your boasting.
That was the story for today.
Teresa, Dorothy, Erin, Lizzie, Patrick and I all met up at Coral Cove to snorkel.
It was rough, to say the least.
Getting thrown into coral and swimming in murky water
isn't exactly the ideal,
we did however, still manage to find sea creatures.
Having gone out at low tide, we were able to walk along the
surfaced coral and rocks and search for ocean creatures.
We found lots of baby sea urchins, two slugs, and a crab.
"Eughheeahhhh"
What was that?!
Oh, it was just Dorothy's shriek of utter disgust as she so bravely picked up one of the squashy slugs.
What was a normal sunny Florida day,
quickly and randomly turned into a rainy, sunny day.
That's so typical of you, Florida weather.
So we gathered our belongings and went to the local "Anne's Italian Ice."
I got blue raspberry and mango ice.
Teresa, Dorothy and Liz loaded up on that soft serve,
Teresa even said this could possibly have been the best serving of soft serve she's ever experienced.
Whoa.
Stomachs satisfied,
it was time to conquer the Jupiter Lighthouse.
No one had toured it before - except me, obviously because I'm so adventurous.
We bought our $5 tickets, which I paid in full with nickles and dimes.
The lady didn't mind at all, in fact - she said she does it all the time!
We first listened about the historical sites on our way to the light house,
all part of the tour of course.
The journey up the 105 steps wasn't bad at all,
it's when you stepped out of the little door that leads to the railing
that made your knees go weak,
some more so than others.
Elizabeth about had a panic attack.
"I never thought the railing would be so low."
It wasn't.
It was a normal sized railing,
just as long as you weren't sitting on it or trying to walk on it without losing your balance,
I think you'd be fine.
Please notice in all photos of Liz, she is either snugly close to the base of the tower or
holding very securely to the railing.
So adventurous.
Our tour guide was very helpful despite her small size.
She showed us where all the celebrities live on Jupiter island and was nice enough
to take some photos of our group.
Oh, and it stopped raining a long time ago.
Florida is so unpredictable.
If Erin was shaking on the way up the light house,
nothing could've prepared her for the way down.
I've never seen her so concentrated in the placement of each step.
I won't lie - it was steep and pretty scary,
even Dorothy was grasping onto the railing, and she's a professional lighthouse climber.
Just a little fun fact:
People get married at the light house.
Did you know that?
Also, Jimmy Buffett bought a brick for the side walk.
And Elizabeth stepped on it.
Not classy.
We're so strong.
On our way back, we were able to tour the oldest house in Jupiter.
Mom - I mean - Erin said it was her favorite part of the whole day.
[We kept calling Erin 'mom' to see if people would react]
[No one did - guess you could pass as our mother]
Our certificates of completion!
We did it!
Well most of us did:
Because she was so nervous about being on the top,
the light house tender did not feel she was eligible to receive a certificate.
So besides Elizabeth - we are now all certified light house climbers.
Even with the tornado waves,
the unexpected rain,
and all of Elizabeth's shortcomings,
we had a pretty rad day.
