Our chauffeur, Alexa, drove us down to Fort Lauderdale
in time for our 5:30 flight.
We spent all morning doing laundry, packing, and bathing the dogs.
Stressful, but we managed to leave on time,
without forgetting anything.
[Surprised? So were we]
Cassie and I had no idea what to do after we were dropped off at the airport.
I knew we were supposed to check in her bag,
but where? outside? with all these people? or inside? how do we even get inside?
Some man - who worked for our airline - must've noticed that we looked confused
because he came over and helped us.
I'm not a troll, I promise - I was just overwhelmed.
LAYOVER!
Our flight to Houston was delayed,
so our layover was fast.
We took photos on our way to our gate, sat down, and then boarded.
Next stop: Salt Lake City, Utah aka Aleksi!
It was the longest flight of our lives.
Maybe it was because we crossed two time zones or how the airline only served drinks, no food
or maybe it was because we were so excited to see Aleksi.
All I know is - that flight took f.o.r.e.v.e.r.
There was this huge storm right outside the window,
lightning was flashing like crazy.
Cassie didn't find it nearly as amusing as I did.
But it was so cool, and then with the sunset, it looked amazing.

And finally after eight hours of traveling and seven months of not seeing each other,
we landed!
Aleksi's friend David came to help pick us up.
He took us to SLC's famous burrito spot, "Betos."
It was delicious.
Mitchell Gleason was also traveling to Utah to visit family and was on our same second flight.
He stayed at Aleksi's with us just for one night.

ReplyDeleteI think you and Lex might have different definitions of "on time."
