Go On.

If I don't get seriously injured from a biking accident,
I think I'll be defying some odd.
On Friday I got in my worst biking accident to date.

There I was - riding down into Norman tunnel - going towards campus,
Slow Motion:
We've got pedestrians walking in the pedestrian lane [good job]
and we've got some tourists taking photos of the graffiti in the bike lane [big mistake]
My brakes don't work - and the tunnel is down hill.
A recipe for disaster.
I had a split second to decide which path to take,
it was either run into the guy taking photos in my lane - or run into a group of people
walking where they were supposed to be.
I didn't even think to yell or warn, it all just happened so fast.
Incredibly, I managed to somehow not hit the tourist man.
That feeling of relief was very short lived
because as I was so focused on not hitting anyone I lost track of my other surroundings.
Surroundings such as a large metal pipe sticking out of the wall.

My bike, Pawnee, hit the pipe head on and came to a complete stop.
An object in motion stays in motion.
I went flying, literally - tossed into the air - like some lifeless doll.
I don't remember if I flipped in the air or hit the ground first and then somersaulted over,
but somehow I managed to do a complete 180.
I landed on my back, feet facing the photo tourist I dodged.
I just remember looking at my shoes as I was in the air
and the hearing the sound of my head snapping back and hitting the concrete.
I laid there for 3 seconds, wondering if that had actually just happened.
I got up - the tourist asked me if I was alright and handed me my bike.
Shaking, I got back on my bike and left.
So embarrassing.

When I got back to my dorm I noticed that I had paint skid marks
on my shoes from scraping the wall slash ground so intensely.
I'm alright.
I had a bad headache, but now my back and neck hurt,
nothing a morning at home can't cure.
Yes, I did say home - I'm home!
All of this bike drama happened as I was rushing to get everything ready to go.
I drove Alexa home.
[glad someone likes leaving Gainesville as much as I do]
It was our last ride from Gville to home together
[she's driving her own car back up]
so that's kind of sad.
Not really though, because that means that the year is coming to an end,
which is ahh-mazing.

The flowers are in full bloom and have become colorful and mature,
which can only mean one thing,
Spring has come to Stuart and Summer is on it's way.

Basically, I've done nothing today.
Conference is on, which is great.
My favorite talks both were in the Priesthood session.
I'm really grateful for my family, my house, and my pups.
I'm also really fortunate to be a part of this great gospel.
As Russell M Neilson said today,
"Though the rain may come down upon us,
our knowledge of the Savior and His plan will help us to stand straight and face adversity courageously.
Brothers and Sisters, Fear not. The future is as bright as your faith."

BFFs.

  1. Dude, you are rocking those shades and that sweater. And you look more grown up. That thought kind of makes me sad. The end.
