Christmas Eve.
I'm not going to lie - it was weird without Mitchell.
Everyone missed him.
Nevertheless - the show must go on - and so it did.
We drove down to Sue and Bill's house in Miami to celebrate with our family.
Being the Poirier's - we arrived fashionably late.
While we waited for dinner - we took photos [obviously] and played a game
Aleksi introduced us to a game called Smurf.
It was funny but didn't last very long.
"Can you smurf outside?"
"Can you smurf in the ocean?"
"Is it swimming?"
We discovered that our cousin Dylan is quite the comedian.
He didn't even try - every other thing he said was hilarious.
Cassie is a model and doesn't even have to try to be beautiful.
Aleksi is very protective - telling all of our cousins, "you don't have a girl friend? Good - keep it that way until your 16 - Girls are a waste of time"
Clark is very well spoken and Thomas is the craziest seven year old ever.
"Seeing as how you're a girl - isn't it kind of counter intuitive to say they're a waste of time?"
"Whoa."

And then dinner was served.
Salad,
Roasted tender loin,
Sweet potatoes,
Rice,
Green beans,
and freshly-homemade rolls.
A very delicious Christmas feast.

A very delicious Christmas feast.
The Dearman's house was beautiful as always - the table was set very elegantly.
Now, if only we were able to sit at it.
We worked so hard to advance to the adult table - but once again - we were back at the kid table.
Actually, none of us minded - it's just funny.
Dylan was the comedian of the night and Cassie and Aleksi were a good audience.
They laughed at all the right times - and even when Dylan wasn't trying to be funny - he was.
"This is my Dr. Phil face"
Dinner was delicious.
Thomas and Clark gave everyone a message - and they weren't half bad.
Then Clark acted as John Wilkes Booth with the assassination of Lincoln.
I said he was intelligent.
When I was ten I thought Lincoln's first name was Abe, short for Abenham.
Kids these days.
After dinner, Dylan proved to us that he could play the guitar.
Pretty good Dylan.
He did say he could play a Black Eyed Peas' song - but he was just plucking the same string.
He said his friend taught it to him.
But I mean, if you hum along - you could hear it.
And then Aleksi took the guitar.
Tonta.
and purposely played it wrong - not knowing whose guitar it was.
She thought she was T. Swift.
Aleksi and Cassie are obsessed with kissing and squeezing Dylan because - until recently
he wanted nothing to do with them.
You think I'm kidding - because he's so nice now - but he would scream and yell if they even looked at him - he honestly could not be in the same room as them.
Best quote of the night:
"Cassie, when I'm in the sixth grade and they keep having the prom, will you be my date - so I can make all my friends jealous?"
She said yes, in case you were wondering.
"I miss Mitchell"
"I think we all miss Mitchell"
"Yeah, he's funny"
I was so stuffed with dinner, I was hardly thinking about dessert.
But - how could I pass up - Coconut Cream Pie, Chocolate Cheese Cake, or some Flaming Pudding.
I couldn't.
It was all mouth watering.
I love Christmas.
Then, me and Cassie made fun of Aleksi and her new facebook profile photo.
[reference to]
It's all fun and games - until someone gets hurt.
Aleksi didn't mind - we do it to her all the time.
Awkward family portrait time.
Particularly this one:
[oh the weird things we do]
I guess it felt more awkward than it looks.
I mean - we all should've lifted our right leg or something - it seems appropriate.
Present time.
I realize the past few posts - I've taken a ton of photos.
I don't know what to do.
I like taking photos.
I really like taking photos.
But my posts are so so long.
Dilemma.
I have a pretty awesome family - so I want to capture every moment.
Christmas Eve twenty ten was a good one.
We ended the night - late - after our drive home trying to break into our
ward's sister missionaries apartment complex - and having my mom accidentally call one of the
residents and hinting for them to open the gate.
They didn't.
I don't know if it's because my mom sounded all confused and flustered when she realized she had accidentally called someone - or that she said she was there to visit her "girl friend"
either way - neither was convincing enough to open the gate at 1:30 in the morning for a stranger.
So we went home.
Sorry Sisters - your presents will have to wait.
"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear"
As much I pushed and asked, no one wanted to go caroling.
What a bunch of cotton-headed ninny-muggins.
All Christmas - all December - not one person wanted to go caroling.
Whatever.
Santa comes tonight.
and I can hardly wait.
christmas eve is my favorite! we laughed so much with out little cousins, i love them! but man those full-body shots make it look like i have weird chicken legs...
ReplyDeleteAhaha, this post was too funny. And also too long. I'm gonna have to scroll up and down to try and remember all of the things I wanted to say.
ReplyDelete1. That really is an awkward family pic
2. I love the picture of you and Cassie sitting in front of the tree. As Tracy would say, it's CUH-UUTE.
3. You think Jon Church takes a lot of pictures of his food? Guess who's similar...
4. The "fashionably late" thing...lol.
um...we caroled to you...and you said "wait are you guys really gonna sing to me? please don't" hahahaha
