So, Rachel and I have not seen each other for the past four months.
In fact, the last time I was with Rachel - in person - was the Tuesday before I left to come to UF.
Sad Day.
Granted we still keep in touch - via skype, fb, and phone.
But it's just not the same.
We've been trying to coordinate visiting each other but it seems like something it preventing us from doing so.
Plans to visit her in Tallahassee - got tickets to the football game
Went home the weekend before she did - on multiple occasions.
Anyway, our opportunity to meet - after four months - had finally arrived.
Rachel was leaving Talla-nasty for home and their was a brief lay-over in Gainesville.
I live in Gainesville = Opportunity.
She said she had 20 minutes.
We had 20 minutes to show her everything we liked about G-ville.
[It's a lot easier than you think]
Our plan: Me and Sharise - go to Mochi [our "pick-me-up" spot] get Rachel mochi - take a bus to the spot where Rachel would be dropped off - give her the mochi - eat and walk and talk for 20 minutes - then return to the bus.
It was all going well
but then it started to rain.
no, I take that back, it started to pour.
So there we were - me and Sharise - with our freshly made Mochi's walking to the bus stop in the pouring rain. We got soaked.
Since when has it rained in the middle of fall?!
[all.the.time.]
That's Florida for you.
The mochi melted - and we didn't want Rachel's first experience with mochi to be tarnished by having to eat it less than perfect so I did the only logical thing - I ate it myself.
It was so good.
We stopped at Kate's dorm while the rain subsided,
and after went to Rachel's destination spot, and met up with Alexa.
and waited.
I skipped class - it turns out I didn't need to because the bus came after it ended - but it was Intro to Health Professions and I don't ever really need to go, so it was fine.
I know, I know - I'm such a rebel - skipping a class where attendance is never taken - livin' on the edge.
Rachel was texting us while she was getting close.
Rachel: "I'm passing a lot of food places, I'm passing Chick fil a - am I close?"
Me: "Yes!!!"
Rachel: "omgshhhh!!!!I can't get off the bus. The driver said we can't get off the bus!"
Me: "Whatttt?! Say you need to vomit"
Rachel: "omgsh - you guys I am SO SORRY. I'm begging the bus driver and he yelled at me in spanish!"
Me: "Sharise said she's going to go "black" on him"
Rachel: "I don't know what to do, I'm so sorry, I see you"
And so - our opportunity was lost.
After four months of being separated by college, and then being just a bus apart, we still weren't going to see each other.
Well, Sharise was not about to let that happen.
I don't know how she did it.
I don't even know what she said.
But she went up to some bus worker - talked to him and then next thing we knew she was running into the bus can calling Rachel to come out.
Five minutes.
The bus driver gave her five minutes to talk.
It was so nice.
Gosh, I miss having Rachel around.
and then before we knew it - our five minutes was up.
We said our goodbyes, Rachel ran back on the bus, and it was over.
just.like.that.
So - thank you to Sharise for speaking up.
It was a random event - but we were all glad to meet up with Rachel again
before she left.
We'll miss you.
[again]

Aww, that was cute. I'm so glad Sharise has no problem with getting in people's faces, because everyone knows you and I would never do that. Then we just would have stood there waving at Rachel on the bus for 10 minutes. Not quite as fun.
