No longer in denial.

I officially suck at riding a bike.
[two new stories]

1. Midnight Mayhem
Last night [Monday] me, Chris and Kate were "studying" for math
["studying" = doing a few problems and then watching our favorite You Tube videos; Tracey, etc.]

Gator Dining closes at 11 - and I was really hungry so I decided we "take a break" from "studying"
and go get something to eat.
It all worked out good, we each rode our bikes, Chris and I went in, got the to-go trays, filled up with food and then saddled up to leave.
I had one hand on the handle bars and one holding my container of food.
We were going down a hill and there was this girl at the bottom
[stupid girl]
Chris went to her right and I thought she would just stand there in the middle, so i went on her left.
she didn't stay.
Rather, she moved right into my path, leaving me with no choice but to go into the grass.
The grass was really bumpy, causing me to loose my balance, let go of the handle bars, and topple over the front of my bike.

again.

All my food spilled, I cut my leg, and I just layed there.
so embarrassing.
Chris had to stop and sit on the ground he was laughing so hard and Kate turned around and just stared at me. I got up, picked up my dirty food, put it back in the container, and went up to the girl and begged her not to tell anyone what she just witnessed and to forget what i look like.
She said she didn't even know me and that she wouldn't.

My life is awesome, right?

2. I got hit by a car.
I have Intro to Health Professions at 3:00.
After math i decided to take a nap [good choice]
I woke up at 2:50, put on my shoes and left - I got all the way down to my bike when I realized I forgot my keys to unlock it.
"Should I just walk?" --- Nah [bad choice].
So I ran back up stairs got my keys, unlocked my bike, and left.
I knew I was running a little late, so I didn't bother crossing the road and using the bike lane, I just stayed on the side walk [which is completely ok - people do it all the time]
I got to the first cross walk and I had 3 seconds left.
"I can make it!"
So I sped up, and just as I entered the cross walk, I noticed the SUV that had been stopped started rolling forward as if they were going to turn.
and then they did!
Right into me
They pushed me forward and I had to take my feet off the pedals to stop myself from falling over.
I turned arounded in shock and anger - pointing to the three seconds on the clock.
The girl in her car looked really scared and mouthed, "I'm so sorry"
I felt bad, smiled, and said "It's ok"
and continued on my way.
Her car had two big, white scratches on her front bumper, but I didn't know if i was supposed to stop and giver my name, or whatever.
you see, I've never been hit by a car before.
So I left and just laughed to myself.

So let's see, this makes 4 bike accidents [that i've recorded]
I've also:
1. Hit a girl [I mean if you see me coming - MOVE]
2. Fallen off the sidewalk several times and had to get off my bike to stop myself from falling over.
3. Came within 2 inches of hitting a cement block - that would've been bad.

I just hope it doesn't get any worse than this.

  2. max maybe you should try something else, like rollerblades, or just leave early and WALK!
THAT is why i was always afraid to ride my bike. i never rode it until my senior year! and i was always nervous about hitting people and there were a few times where i almost crashed because of people who dont pay attention but then i got aggressive and i would whiz past someone and hit them in the arm and say "move!"
