Please be original and put some thought into it. I am looking for content not quantity or stock answers.
[Easiest first assignment - i think so]
My name is Maxwell Poirier and I am currently a freshman at the University of Florida. As the son of a nurse and a firefighter, I have been taught the importance of community and caring for one another. I grew up learning the basic lessons of childhood, but one lesson in particular my parents stressed to me was the necessity and responsibility I have to help and care for others and the duty I have to be an active member in our community. I loved listening to my parent’s stories, about the action they were taking in society and helping to keep our community safe and healthy. Through my youth, I volunteered at a local nursing home, where I would make calls to the elderly, deliver meals, and visit with them. It is here, I believe, when I discovered what I wanted to do with my life. Listening to my parent’s stories and visiting with the aged, instilled in me a desire to help the elderly with rehabilitation services. At the University of Florida, I have been given the opportunity to make that desire, a reality.
Currently, my major is Health Science on the pre-physical therapy track. I’m taking the course, Intro to Health Professions, with the hope that I will learn more about what it takes to become a physical therapist and the requirements I need to fulfill now in order to be competitive for Physical Therapy school in the future. I also want to hear first hand experiences and scenarios explaining the challenges and results of this profession.
I understand that the courses I will have to take in the future in order to achieve this profession will be very time consuming and difficult, and that selection into Physical Therapy school is very competitive, but I also know that nothing worthwhile is ever easy. I like working with people, which is why I think this profession will suit me well. The aspect of physical therapy that I’m looking forward to most is the reward of helping a patient overcome their dysfunction. I’m eagerly looking forward to working one on one with the elderly and aiding them to overcome their injuries.
